US National Lawyers Guild: Israel's violence and aggression against the people of Palestine and Lebanon has already cost the lives of hundreds of people and may provoke a horrific regional or global war. The recent devastation in Palestine and Lebanon magnifies the ever-present reality of the brutal, violent, and racist occupation of Palestine and continued aggression against Lebanon. It is imperative for all people of conscience to stand in solidarity with our Palestinian and Lebanese brothers and sisters in their struggle against Israeli and U.S. occupation, aggression and imperialism. It is also imperative that we continue to fight for an end to the U.S. occupation in Iraq.

And another interesting piece: Looking forward now that Israel has shown it's true colors. Unfortunately, comments are off.
How come there isn't one reference to Hezbollah, Arab Terrorists, or 1500 rockets rained down on Israeli civilians the past week both in the synopsis or the seeded article?
Are facts a little too inconvenient to put into an article?
The Lebanese have a right to defend themselves, don't you think? My country (Denmark), and the EU don't consider Hezbollah a terrorist organisation. The real terrorists are the criminal leaders in Israel. They are committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Israel also has a right to defend itself. If you will remember Israel started attacking Lebanon after Hezbollah killed and kidnapped Israeli soldiers. My country (good ol USA), and the EU don't consider Israel a terrorist organisation.
But the EU, among others, have strongly criticized Israel's attack on Lebanon from the beginning.
Hezbollah tried for a long time to negotiate the release of Lebanese prisoners. Israel didn't want to negotiate, and then Hezbollah proclamed that they would try to capture Israeli soldiers for trade. Israel knew that, but instead they used it as a pretext for attacking Lebanon.
Well the UN called for the disarmament of all militias in Lebanon in September of 2004 with UN Security Council Resolution 1559. Ask Israel how well that worked. The lebanese prisoners are not POWs they are criminals, and what did Hezbollah offer in return? Peace? Right we all know how well Hezbollah and Hamas are at keeping peace.
@The Filipino, it's the same reason you won't see any of the Lebanese dead on CNN, you only see numbers. While they interview the mothers of the dead in Israel and even mention when some people are "lightly wounded". The media is generally biased in one way or another, generally all you can do is read articles from all sides and try to put the picture together yourself.
it's the same reason you won't see any of the Lebanese dead on CNN,
Maybe not on CNN, but you do in Newsweek. In this weeks issue, there was a rather gruesome picture of a dead Lebanese boy.
Tonights news tells me there are 300 Lebanese dead for 30 Israeli dead. So a completely unbiased news organisation would show 10x as many Lebanese casualties as Israeli.
How come, The Filipino, how come indeed?
What I would like to know is how come there is so much attention on the Middle East, and Israel is painted as a racist/terrorist government, while things like this or worse are happening all over the world with little to no press.
Why are there so many anti-Israel groups around the world promoting boycotts and protests, while nobody seems to care about genocide going on in countries in Africa, or China's many human rights violations?
Yes, the situation in the Middle East is horrible, and Israel, terrorist groups, and other governments have done terrible things, but you have to wonder why this specific topic is deemed to be more important than equally horrible situations elsewhere.
The USA has killed many civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan while hunting down terrorist groups, why don't we boycott US made products? What about China?
Frankly, a lot of these actions seem like thinly veiled anti-Semitism, and people involved should look closely at why they're doing it.
They are anti-semitic at some level. The Arab sympathizers feel that Israel is to blame for every problem they have. Can't grow crops, Israel's fault. Economy in ruins, Israel's fault. My kid was trying to kill Israelis but got killed himself, damn you Israel. Once it gets in the news it stays there because people already know the backgound and are already leaning to one side. There is also enough world wide media in the area to keep people like Keld appalled at one sides "war crimes" that he has something to complain about. With everybody from around the world being able to throw up a website and pretend they are an expert in history and war that there is no limit to the biased junk that either side can find.
I wonder the same thing, and I'm a Muslim?!
I guess living in Canada give me a different perspective.
But I find that the middle east is very anti-semetic through their actions, and Europe through their words.
Is it propaganda and media in the theocratic states that is to blame for the hate the middle east harbors?
Is it jealousy by the Europeans?
I don't know. All I know is that none of it helps.
Hey guys, wanna see something REALLY racist and violent? Check out the way the Danes treat Jews. It helps explain a lot about Mr. Bach and his opinions.
The issue with racism and anti-semitism is the generalizations that are made. It doesn't help to counter (questionable) anti-Semitism with anti-Daneism. Although those actions in the link are incredibly reprehensible (banning brisim milot (ooh ooh was that right? A better hebrew speaker please tell me!) certainly doesn't seem like Freedom of Religion to me.), I don't think that Keld supports assaulting Rabbis or banning Jewish rituals.
Keld, please help me understand your Point of view. What, exactly, do you want from Israel?
Maybe he wants what Hezbollah and Hammas want, the banishment of all Jews from the earth.
He makes no constructive criticism and is more biased then anyone I have read on newsvine.
anyone who throws around phrases like "zionist" most often tend to be anti-semetic so basically he is a biggot trying to convince everyone that israel is evil and that the terrorists are actually the good guys.
My sentiments exactly.
I am angry at myself by always getting drawn in (like I'm doing now).
So Zionists themselves are basically anti-semetic biggots? You guys crack me up. This anti-semetic gang bang of yours is like watching an arthritic ballet company.
more often than not you see the people refering to jews as zionist doing so in an anti-semetic way. Language aside, look at kelds posts and it becomes aparant that Israel can do no right by him. They could make all the concesions in the world and it would not be good enough as long as they still exist.
"More often than not" how diabolically specific of you.
As to the rest of your equally exacting opinion.
We will just have to wait until Israel makes all the concessions in the world to prove your point that Keld is an anti-semite.
He does seem very concerned about the amount of people Israel have killed compared to the Israeli bodycount. (not Jewish, Israeli)
Myself i believe the Jewish people are fully entitled to a sovereign state.
So you'll have to think of something else to label me.
Here I'll help, you may call me, 'The chosen one.'
you may call me, 'The chosen one.'
Chosen to do what exactly? Make comments like "So Zionists themselves are basically anti-semetic biggots?". Do you even know what those words mean?
I do know what they mean and the fact that it makes no sense is my point. the chosen one's also has a relevance that seems to be lost on you.
You need to either be spoonfed/ spoken to in simple one dimensional language or you get all confused.
I'm not responsible for your lack of comprehension.
anyone who throws around phrases like "zionist" most often tend to be anti-semetic
If you can't see the built in farcical contradiction then thats entirely your problem. Apparently your wise, evidence is required.
the fact that it makes no sense is my point
But you were the first to say it. Speak to me slowly since I am obviously so dumb. Do you believe Hezbollah and Hamas have the right to enter Israel and kill and kidnap soldiers? Does Israel have a right to respond?
No and Yes, and if you reverse the question No and Yes. Follow?
Follow?
Like the American sheep that I'm sure you think I am.
I don't think you're a sheep. I'm not realistically presuming you care what i think. But your not a sheep, too one dimensional. You obviously believe in things and do so for moral reasons. This Israeli thing brings out the worst in Israelis, Palestinians, and seemingly anyone who gets drawn into the conflict one way or the other. I just object to the vehemence in which people attack others. Hypocritical aren't I?
Hypocritical and patronizingly proud of it, apparently.
Yes, If you cut me do I not bleed? :)
(except I'd replace 'patronizing' with 'competitively humble')
